People with special needs often find it quite hard to access suitable recreational and exercise facilities. Cycling is a great solution as it is fun both independently and with family and friends joining in. Our new “Wheels for All” Centre at Havercroft, near Wakefield, enhances the provision of inclusive sporting and leisure opportunities for people of all ages. The adapted bikes are accessible to people with and without disabilities who cannot ride conventional bicycles. At present our trained Cycle Leaders run open sessions at Havercroft Sports Centre on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. These are well attended by families, disabled youngsters, their siblings and friends who all enjoy a fun activity in a safe environment.

Through the ‘Wheels for All’ initiative we are able to work on a one-to-one basis to improve mobility, fitness and confidence. ‘Wheels for All’ gives people a sense of empowerment.
